Raechel is our bovine-loving, all-star employee who keeps Russells Mills running smoothly behind the scenes. After harvesting tens of thousands of dahlias with us for years- we asked Raechel to curate her top favorites!
The Raechel's Favorites Dahlia Tuber Collection Includes (5) Tubers:
(1) Karma Prospero - This dark stemmed cutie was sold to us as a mislabel and lovingly referred to as "Raechel's Purple" until we finally discovered its name. Raechel loved her vivid color and her cut flower potential, so she's been a staple on the farm ever since. Although she isn’t a vigorous tuber producer, plants are taller with a lovely growth habit and produce an enormous amount of cut flowers.
(1) Caitlin's Joy- Everything you want in a dahlia. Blooms change throughout the season from a vivid pink and purple to a smoky mauve. The perfect plant height and relentless bloomer— she’s got it all. A farm staple and a gardener's joy—even if your name isn’t Caitlin!
(1) Valley Porcupine - The cutest spiky pink and white bloom this variety is a farm favorite. Valley Porcupine was one of the very first dahlias we grew on the farm. A great cut flower producer and tuber producer- there’s nobody quite like her!
(1) Coralie - An adorable prolific bloom in shades of pink, blush, and white. A prolific plant with great growth habit, and a great tuber producer. A great variety for beginners.
(1) Rip City - A very moody and dark red-black bloom that has long, easy to cut stems from the beginning of the season. Her dramatic blooms are captivating to farm visitors as well as floral designers. A fantastic tuber producer- you'll have loads of this variety in no time.
Russells Mills Flower Company’s dahlia tubers are always 100% American Grown (right here on our farm in Massachusetts!) and never imported.

Growing Guide
Dahlias are cold sensitive and should not be planted out until all danger of frost has passed in your area. Dahlias grow best in full sun (6+ hours of sunlight) and well-draining soil. Dahlias produce tubers which must be lifted in the fall in zones 7 and lower.
